About the group
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is one of the most thoroughly researched psychological approaches available today. Originally developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, DBT teaches practical skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, surviving crises, and building a life worth living.
This group is offered entirely in English and is designed for expats, internationals, and English-speaking residents of Vilnius who are looking for high-quality psychological support in their first language. It is a skills-focused group — a supportive community where you will learn, practise, and apply DBT tools alongside others on a similar path.
Who is this group for?
This group is well-suited for people who:
-
Find their emotions feel overwhelming or hard to control
-
Struggle in relationships — with conflict, communication, or disconnection
-
Experience anxiety, low mood, or difficulty coping with stress
-
Want practical, evidence-based tools — not just talking
-
Are new to Vilnius and looking for meaningful connection with others
-
Are already in individual therapy and want structured skills support alongside it
No prior knowledge of DBT is needed. The group is open to anyone who would benefit from a skills-based approach, and you can join at any time.
Session structure
Each 90-minute session follows a consistent, warm structure:
Mindfulness practice
A different exercise each week — helping you build a personal toolkit of grounding and awareness techniques.
Check-in & peer support
Share as much or as little as you like about your week. You choose your level of participation — introverts and extroverts are both welcome.
Skills learning
The core of each session. Over time, we cover all four DBT modules — with practical exercises and real-life application at the centre of every topic.
The four DBT skill areas
Mindfulness
Learning to observe your thoughts and feelings without being swept away by them.
Emotion regulation
Understanding your emotional responses and gaining more control over them.
Distress tolerance
Coping with difficult moments without making things worse.
Interpersonal effectiveness
Communicating clearly, setting limits, and maintaining healthy relationships.
Your facilitator

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be in individual therapy to join?
No. The group can be attended on its own or alongside individual therapy. Many participants find combining both approaches particularly effective.
Can I join mid-cycle?
Yes — this is an ongoing, open group. New members are welcome to join at any time after completing an orientation consultation.
How many people are in the group?
Groups are kept small to ensure a safe and connected atmosphere. Your orientation consultation is also a chance to ask any questions before you begin.
What is an orientation consultation?
A brief individual meeting before your first session — to make sure the group is a good fit for you, answer your questions, and help you feel prepared.
What is the cancellation policy?
Group membership works a little differently from individual appointments. When you join, your seat is permanently reserved — it belongs to you each week, and is not offered to anyone else. This means the session fee applies even when you need to miss a session due to illness, travel, or other commitments. In return, you never need to worry about losing your place.
