Services
Counseling
Individual counseling is a personalized, one-on-one therapeutic process that helps clients explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a safe, supportive environment. Guided by a licensed mental health professional, clients work through challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or life transitions, while building insight, coping strategies, and personal growth. Our goal is to empower individuals to better understand themselves, improve their well-being, and make meaningful changes in their lives.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a deeper, structured process of emotional growth and self-discovery that helps address long-term internal or psychological issues. It is intended not only for overcoming difficulties but also for improving quality of life, fostering personal growth, and gaining a deeper understanding of oneself. During psychotherapy, a therapeutic relationship is developed with the specialist and, together, you work to identify and change recurring patterns of behavior or thinking. Sessions can take place either in person or remotely.
DBT Groups
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Group Our Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group is for anyone who wants to better understand themselves and learn valuable skills to manage emotions, reduce stress, and improve mindfulness. One of the key aspects of our group therapy is creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. It's a place to find new ways to approach relationship challenges, manage emotional ups and downs, and build greater self-confidence. DBT is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) influenced by mindfulness principles from Buddhism. It emphasizes accepting life's imperfections and learning how to live more effectively in a world that isn’t always under our control. DBT is a well-researched, evidence-based therapy that helps you learn to accept yourself and move forward to achieve your goals. At the Vilnius Psychological Center, our goal is also to build a supportive community where each member can feel comfortable and be themselves. Group Structure: 15 min – Mindfulness Practice Each session begins with a 15-minute mindfulness exercise, which will change each week to give you a variety of calming techniques. This allows you to discover what works best for you and helps you build your mindfulness practice. 30 min – Sharing & Support This part of the group is for sharing personal experiences and offering support to one another. It’s a time to connect and learn from each other. You can choose how much you’d like to share, as we understand that everyone’s comfort levels vary. Whether you're more introverted or extroverted, this is a space for your unique experience. We value and respect everyone’s journey. 45 min – Skills Building In this portion, we’ll dive into practical exercises that help you build mindfulness, regulate emotions, manage stress, and develop healthy relationships. A key focus is on self-care and learning to apply DBT skills in real-life situations. Over time, you’ll work through all the key DBT skills, giving you tools to better navigate everyday life and emotional challenges. Ready to Join? EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy used to treat trauma, anxiety, and other emotional health concerns. The therapy is based on the idea that our brains sometimes struggle to process traumatic memories, which can cause emotional pain and other psychological issues. Many people who try EMDR describe a profound shift, often saying their inner pain "just disappeared" (almost like magic) and was replaced with a sense of calm and peace. What sets EMDR apart from other forms of therapy is its targeted approach. During the sessions, we work with deep, subconscious layers of the mind that are often inaccessible through traditional therapy methods. This allows for a deeper, more focused and sustainable healing process.
IFS Therapy (Internal Family Systems)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a unique and transformative therapy that helps you understand and balance your inner world. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, IFS views the mind as being made up of different "parts," each with its own feelings, thoughts, and roles. In therapy, the goal is to explore and heal these parts, helping you to become more whole and at peace within yourself. IFS is especially effective for addressing trauma, whether from childhood, accidents, or difficult life experiences. It helps uncover and heal the emotional wounds that prevent different parts of your personality from working together harmoniously. IFS is also beneficial for a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships, personal growth blocks, and distorted self-image or self-worth. This approach offers a gentle, compassionate way to explore and heal the parts of you that may be holding you back, allowing for deeper healing and growth.

The VPC Approach to Psychotherapy
The goal of psychotherapy is to help you improve your well-being and lead a more fulfilling life. Over time, different schools of psychotherapy have emerged, each offering their own theories and techniques to help people overcome psychological distress. Some offer a more practical, advice oriented approach, while others promise that life will only get better once you gain a deeper understanding of your childhood troubles and experiences. Typically, each branch of psychotherapy, while offering important practical guidance, places psychologists within a certain framework that may, at times, be limiting or simply not enough. For these reasons, at the Vilnius Psychological Center, we offer an integrated approach to psychotherapy, which is now becoming the gold standard worldwide. Only by drawing on the various theories, practices and orientations of psychotherapy can we ensure that the whole process is tailored to you. In other words, the toolkits of the specialists at the Vilnius Psychological Center are multifaceted and reflect our willingness to alleviate your emotional pain, no matter how complex the obstacles that cause it.
Therapeutic Modalities at VPC
Psychodynamic (Psychoanalytic) Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on exploring the unconscious mind and understanding how past experiences may shape current behavior. Through this process, individuals can gain insight into their emotions and behavior, develop better self-awareness, and ultimately improve their relationships. This type of therapy helps people recognize and better manage the unconscious forces that shape their thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
The main goal of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is to help individuals change their thought and behavior patterns to improve their mental health and well-being. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts and beliefs directly influence our feelings and actions. By changing the way we think, we can also shift our emotional state. CBT is a structured therapy that uses specific therapeutic tools, which therapists apply during sessions. These tools include analyzing thought and behavior patterns, cognitive restructuring techniques, behavioral experiments, stress management strategies, and more. CBT is widely used to treat various psychological challenges and is considered one of the most effective therapeutic practices available.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a scientifically validated, evidence-based therapy designed for individuals who struggle with intense emotions, stress, and difficult relationships. Rooted in cognitive-behavioral principles, DBT integrates mindfulness and acceptance strategies to help you build a healthier, more balanced emotional life. DBT combines individual therapy with group sessions, focusing on key skills such as emotional regulation, effective communication, distress tolerance, and problem-solving. This approach is specifically tailored to help you cope with challenging emotions and improve your ability to navigate difficult situations in everyday life. The primary goal of DBT is to equip you with practical, actionable tools to manage emotional difficulties more effectively, ultimately leading to a greater sense of control and well-being.

The Steps for Getting Started
To inquire about our services and availability, please contact us directly via email or phone. You are also welcome to schedule a free 15-30 minute introductory video appointment with one of our psychologists, who will discuss treatment recommendations after better understanding your specific situation and will also answer any questions you may have.
After the informational video appointment, you will be able to schedule an initial therapy session with a psychologist, whose expertise matches your needs best. During the first therapy session, you will discuss your goals, clarify your expectations, and work with the therapist to develop a treatment plan that will be revised and expanded on a regular basis. Often, you will also start developing your own toolkit for coping with symptoms between sessions. Generally, therapy appointments are scheduled on a weekly basis, but as anxiety or other symptoms improve (or worsen due to unforeseen circumstances), the frequency may be decreased or increased, as needed.
The length of psychotherapy depends on your goals, expectations, and the intensity of your symptoms. You can expect to feel some relief after a few sessions. Research shows that such relief usually indicates that psychotherapy is likely to be effective. Some clients feel well enough to stop after 15-20 sessions, while others feel the need to continue for several years. This is a personal decision that you can discuss with your psychologist, taking into account your changing needs and goals.
Our values
1
Connection
Therapy at Vilnius Psychological Center is based on collaboration between the therapist and the client. You are the expert of your own life and only you know best what solutions are possible in your specific situation, whereas we offer our professional expertise and knowledge to help you get unstuck and heal. Research in psychology shows that the connection between the therapist and the client is the most important factor in determining the effectiveness of psychotherapy. We do not believe in the therapeutic approach of simply telling clients what to do to get better. Healing can only be achieved through collaboration, mutual agreement on goals, active participation, discussion, and sharing of experiences.
2
Respect
Mental health problems have always been associated with stigma and misconceptions. Only recently have attitudes towards psychotherapy begun to change and society has become more accepting of psychological help. We are strongly opposed to the negative stereotypes associated with mental health. This is one of the reasons we refer to you as clients rather than patients. We want to ensure that both the psychotherapist and the person seeking help are treated as equals, worthy of respect and understanding.
3
Effectiveness
Our goal at Vilnius Psychological Center is to ensure that your treatment is effective. Psychotherapy is a major investment in your well-being, requiring concentration, emotional effort, time and financial resources. For these reasons, we always provide therapy with a clear purpose, guided by mutually agreed upon goals, and applying the latest and most effective methods tailored to your specific situation.
4
Quality Services
You've probably heard a lot of jokes about psychologists or psychiatrists - it's a field that employs a very diverse array of personalities. However, psychotherapy is first and foremost a science. In order to use the most effective methods to treat specific symptoms or disorders, it is important to take into account the latest scientific findings. To ensure that scientific knowledge is put into practice, we have developed specific protocols and treatment guidelines that are used by all of our professionals. Of course, the creativity of the therapist is also very important for a successful treatment, as it is the only way to adapt the different methods to your personal needs. And in combining the science and creativity, we make sure that we work from a science-based foundation.
5
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is essential for successful psychotherapy. It is the only way to feel safe enough to reveal your inner fears, private thoughts or anxieties and to build mutual trust between you and your therapist. Confidentiality at Vilnius Psychological Center means that everything said during the therapy session is kept private. And it doesn't matter whether a family member, relative or friend who wants to help contacts us - no information will be shared without your permission. Even if you decide to involve your loved ones in your treatment, we will work with you to decide how much and what information to share.
6
Professional Development
Our team is constantly developing - attending various trainings and conferences in Lithuania and abroad, collaborating with colleagues around the world, and meeting several times a week for individual and group supervision by Dr. Justina Dillon.
